Methodist Women in Britain is a movement that has come out of Women's Network (Itself formed out of Women's Fellowship and Women's Work) and the British Unit of the World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women.
In August 2016, the World Assembly of the World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women was held in Houston Texas. You can find more information about it at: www.wfmucw.org
We are pleased that Alison Judd - from the Southampton District - has been appointed as the World Federation President. Also that Hillary Evans is our new district rep on the MWiB Forum.
'The aim of Methodist Women in Britain is to know Christ and to make him known, encouraging, enabling and equipping women to participate fully in the life of the Church and in society, supporting the Church to become truly the whole people of God.' MWiB encourages women to develop creative Christian spirituality and practical social action in a global context.
Methodist Women in Britain was launched at Methodist Conference in Southport on Friday 1st July 2011, followed by further 'Launch Roadshows' at different venues around the country.
Please pray for this movement.
Methodist Women in Britain in the Southampton District have their own magazine, Southern View. It comes out twice a year - at the Area Days in the Spring and at the District Celebration Day in the Autumn.
There is a District Project each year. Each year Methodist Women in Britain also support the world church through the Easter Offering Service. Envelopes are available for churches, and cheques should be made out to 'The Methodist Church World Mission Fund'. Gift aid from the Easter Offering envelopes cannot be claimed by a church or circuit - because it will be claimed by the Methodist Church on behalf of the World Mission Fund. Opened gift aid envelopes, once the contents have been paid in, should be sent to 'The Fundraising Department, Methodist Church House, 25 Marylebone Road, London, NW1 5JR. Please let Margaret Williams, the MWiB Administrator (firstname.lastname@example.org) know how much your circuit has contributed through the Easter Offering - giving her our district number (26) and your circuit number.
We commend Magnet to you - a quarterly magazine for just £10 per annum. Ask someone to have a look at their copy - or lend a friend a copy of yours.
