Downloads from The Methodist Church All the information and downloads are available here. CPD and Standing Orders The initials CPD make many ministers throw up their hands in horror and lay people shake their heads in bewilderment. They stand for The Constitutional Practice and Discipline of the Methodist Church. They are our rules and regulations – hammered out (and frequently amended) over long years of sometimes painful and complex experience. When used properly they ensure that Church life – in all its aspects – proceeds smoothly, legally and methodically! Please refer to them. The relevant Standing Orders that apply to Lay Employment are 438(A), 570 and 575. Help and advice is available not only from the District Lay Employment Team but also from the Connexional Team at Methodist Church House. Employment Contracts, approval and the processes Employment Law is complex and is changing all the time. The guidelines and processes set out on the Methodist Church website are there to make it an easier process for you. The website sets out all that is necessary for a successful appointment; the approval process, the essential documents which are all downloadable and can then be personalized for each individual person/Church/Circuit post, all the Appendices for Health and Safety, Disciplinary and Complaints, and the form to send to the District Lay Employment Group for approval before the request for appointment goes to DPE (for Circuit and District appointments), or Circuit Meeting (for Church appointments). The Approval from District Lay Employment can all be done by email, attaching all the necessary documents. It is very important to remember to actually give hard copies of all the necessary Appendices to each and every employee at the same time as they are given their Written Statement of Terms and Conditions/Employment Contract. |
